Last night while at idle through a car wash my temp went right at the red until I started driving and putting the AC on. Now when I got home I did hear a little hiss but couldn't quite see where it was coming from(too dark). Well this afternoon driving for about 15 min it went to red! I stopped to take a look and I noticed a slight crack on the driverside (below the cooler line?). I've noticed it only shows when it expands. Two questions is this why it gets hot? And is there a quick fix? One more question am I screwed and have to change out the radiator? Any help is appreciated

better replace it & you are probably running low on coolant.

X2 on this one.
i cracked the driver side tank on mine and was thinking i was going to have to buy a whole radiator but the shop i took it too said it only needed the tank and i think i spent about 60$. dont forget to bleed the system afterwards or it will continue to get hot. you might have some air in it now and thats why your getting the overheating.

It depends. If you are going to use your car for normal everyday driving then replace the plastic tank. If you are going to go to the track and race then get a High performance aluminum radiator.

Radiator.com. It will arrive to your door sometimes in less than 24/hrs of order and they carry a LLT warranty.
I have a (once made in USA) Modine radiator And a Mexico made visteon radiator purchased from them. Nice pieces. You can sometimes also find a Delphi radiator for not too much $$ as well.

Thanx 4 all the info fellas. I'm probably going to just get the tank replaced. I just don't trust these new radiators and I have had some radiator guys say I should just replace the tank because they just don't make radiators like the original stock one.
