My 91 had the posi & 3.08's. Would it be considered an LTZ even though it did not have leather & digital dash, but otherwise loaded to the hilt?

No, the LTZ's also got the FE3 springs, 235 tires and a few other things, its been a while since my LTZ so I don't remember exactly the options it had. But it had every option but leather and a sunroof, not to get off the topic though.

Hey fullname, add the axle housing size, carrier size an the three-digit RPO code to your list and you'll get a sticky!

Per the ImpalaSS FAQ and some factory documentation, the standard axle ratio for all L99 4.3L Caprices is 2.73, not 2.93. More importantly, all 2.73 B-bodies used a smaller, weaker axle housing.

3)
If you want some good cheap gears, and are lucky enough to find these ...
1993 L05 Cadillac Fleetwood V4P Tow Package 3.73
1994-1996 LT1 Cadillac Fleetwood V4P Tow Package 3.42

the 2.73Gears only came on the 1994 Caprice Civilian L99(4.3) and was later changed to 2.93Gears for the 1995-1996 caprice Civilian L99(4.3) Models

NEW FOR 1995:

* Impala SS model was available interim '94
* Caprice Classic LS model discontinued
* Bosch ABS V (TM) anti-lock brake system
* Revised exterior appearance w/new foldaway, outside rearview
mirrors and a new quarter panel, and quarter window treatment
(similar to Impala SS)
* Enhanced family of radios
* 2.93 axle ratio standard with 4.3L V8 engine (replacing 2.73
axle ratio)
* Cinching safety belts replace "free-falling" design (rear
seat)

all used the 8.5" axle housing.
Only 2.73 used the 7.625" axle.

2)
2.93 ... 3.08 ... 3.23 ... 3.42 ... 3.73
all used the Series 3 carrier.
Only 2.56 used the Series 2 carrier.
