It's "Rootes" not "root". There are knowledgeable people on this subject in the Forced Induction section. You may want to re-post this with the correct spelling there.

Not sure where you got that spelling

Roots type supercharger

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search
A Roots blower with two-lobed rotors. Most real Roots blowers' rotors have three or four lobes.
Key:
1 Rotary vane 1
2. Pump body
3. Rotary vane 2
a. Intake
b. Pumping
c. Forced air or air-fuel mixture into intake manifold

The Roots type supercharger or Roots blower is a positive displacement lobe pump which operates by pumping fluids with a pair of meshing lobes not unlike a set of stretched gears. Fluid is trapped in pockets surrounding the lobes and carried from the intake side to the exhaust. It is frequently used as supercharger in engines, where it is driven directly from the engine's crankshaft via a belt or, in a two-stroke diesel engine, by spur gears.
It is named for the brothers Philander and Francis Marion Roots of Connersville, Indiana, who first patented the basic design in 1860 as an air pump for use in blast furnaces and other industrial applications. In 1900, Gottlieb Daimler included a Roots-style supercharger in a patented engine design, making the Roots-type supercharger the oldest of the various designs now available. Roots blowers are commonly referred to as air blowers or pd blowers.[1]

I've looked into it, the lil info I cam across appeared that you need a to cut your cowl to shreds. But most were running bbc never seen an sbc blower.

Not a problem realy except for getting the wipers to work.

Next if your going carbed or efi. Efi isnto cheap for a blower. One kit just the injector plate was 1500 I was looking at. Still need a tb of some sort that can flow a ton of air.

Plus your limeted on boost, because of a lack of intercooler, I mean you can ge oone but it will stick up about 4 to 5more inches.

They sound cool and lo9ok cool but its so outdated. I like it a lot tho but ikd.

Btw this was typed on my phone so if its has typos I'm not correcting it till I get on my pc just a heads up. Alos this assumed you were talking about a 671 or 8710 style blower
