Default trans pan bolt torque

Dumb question: left my shop manual elsewhere...I forget the torque for the trans pan bolts...anyone know it?

There is a note (Fig 10 on pg 7A-15 of my 96 FSM) that shows 2 conditions for the pan bolts, which have a conical (cupped) washer under the head. If the conical washer is collapsed and pushed up flush to the underside of the bolt head, it should be replaced.

If you find all of the bolts are out of spec, the pan uses 16 of them. Also (if using a used stock pan) check the pan rails to make sure they are straight. If the pan bolts were over-tightened and collapsed the conical washers, the pan could have been deformed as well, which would affect the overall gasket clamping pressure when the bolts are installed to proper torque spec.

The bolt PN is 24226008, which has been changed to 24231519, sold as a 5-pack.

Typically what I use for valve covers, oil pans, transmission pans...etc is to use a 1/4" drive ratchet, socket & extension.

It only requires a small amount of torque and using the smaller drive really help prevent over torquing.
