96wagon - are you suggesting the Fairmont Hotel in SF or a Fairmont Hotel in San Jose? I checked the Fairmont Hotel in SF. It's on Nob Hill and that place is about $630/night and up for a regular room in mid-October. That is more than I wanted to spend per night for a few days of just vacation. I'll check out San Jose and Oakland hotels just to get some more ideas.

Wait - I read your post again. I'm not getting married. It's not my HM (honeymoon). My wife's niece is getting married on Oct. 13, 2012 in Burbank and we'll be at some Burbank hotel for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night spending time with all of my in-laws. After that, this is a regular vacation for us.

not sure how fancy you want your hotel to be, me i just need a clean decent place to rest my head and doesnt need to be expensive. Whenever the wife and i stay in Frisco to visit family or to hang we stay at the Seal Rock Inn. Ocean views, clean decent rooms. Its a great place for a "base" to start at when visiting anywhere in Frisco. You should look into it.
