Default Check Engine Light Code Reader for 1994 Caprice?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good check engine light code reader for a 1994 chevy caprice...hopefully not too pricey, my check engine light pops on every so often

if the CEL comes on and goes off, randomly its a O2 sensor.

i used datamaster with a cable

there are some handhelds u can buy to read codes, or you can just take ur car to autozone/pepboys ect..ect. they will read the codes for free

We may have the same issue, RollinChevy94. My CEL will come on from time to time, both cooling fans kick in. After few minutes it ususally corrects itself. The CEL never survives an engine restart, so I've never been able to get a code.

codes are stored in memory even if the CEL goes away you still should be able to access the memory and pull the code.

Exactly! My car is running perfectly fine also, but seeing the check engine light from time to time is pretty annoying and it worries me that something may be wrong, i need to buy one of those readers just to be safe

Not to be a dik but most on this site wont even bother to help you unless they see that you have tried to at least help yourself by doing a simple search.

Top right under your name is the search feature.

By punching in "code reader" in the search I got 2 pages of info.

I picked this one out for you. And if you dont want to read all that great info then just skip to post #25 on that link.
