Default PCMforless Spark Plug wires

I have PCMforless over valve cover wires installed with approximately 3K on them. I assumed the were heat shielded, maybe I am wrong?

Are they worth the money or should I install ACDelco's?

Do I need to install heat boots? I have Midlength ceramic coated Hedman Hedders.

Problem. I have loss of power, from light throttle. From 40 to 50 when the 4th gear kicks in I get a stutter, when I give more gas it drops a gear and goes away. I will do the lights out arch test tonight, but want feedback on the wires. They have bubbled up at the boots but are not cracked and have a good connection. This happened on my trip from VA to MO, a pretty long distance. Attached is my datalog most current.

I have already Cleaned my MAF and tested with disconnected. I have new MSD coil, new MSD OPTI, new O2's, new TPS, and taped on my MAP not funky idle after.

If you have bubbled up the boots, then you have your answer. Sounds like a melted plug wire boot to me.

Thats what I was looking for. I was unsure if it was the external plastic wrap or the whole plug wire that was bad. Just to make sure the spark plug wire is from PCMforless and has an additional bit of rubber that has their name all over it on top of the existing wire itself.

Is it a safe bet to just get the ACdelco OTVC wires and heat boots?

Default PCMforless Spark Plug wires

I use/recommend MSD 8.5mm. wires. They are available in red,or black.

I will look for them on summit racing. Will they hold up to the heat from my headers? My current sparkplug wires are atleast an inch from the headers? I have the budget of a garage band groupie right now, HAHA!

OVC wires??

if staying that route than you would need to get the "make to fit" from MSD, Taylor, etc

If you return to OEM wire routing AND all brackets/looms than a off the shelf set from Magnacore, MSD, Taylor or any "store" brand would work

FWIW I have headers and, stock plugwire routeing/mounting and no issue of heat from headers

Default PCMforless Spark Plug wires

Why would you want your wires "over the valve covers" anyway?

the way my headers sit if i run them factory mounted they will touch the headers or be too close in proximity. I run them over valve cover and I have clearance. I am not worried about cosmetics

Default Spark plug wires

And,yet the boots are fried. I see a lot of Impalas with headers, but I don't recall seeing any with spark wires over the valve covers. Why is that?

Easier install, better protection, I have my reasons. I have mid length Heddman headers, and have clearance on the driver side for factory routing, just not on the passenger. There are plenty LT1 setups that route over the valve cover, maybe not in Impala SS but several other LT1 matted engines. No pun intended, I like the practicality of routing them over the valve cover.

On a separate note I ran the engine in the dark pretty cool. I see small sparks coming from several wires but they appear to be a glow and not an arc. Is this normal or should there be no visible spark?
