memphiz has a good idea.

the way it is supposed to work is when supply (labor) is down the price (wages) go up.

when the price goes up you attract more labor until the new equillibrium is reached.

Not going to lie its not the WORK that Americans don't like to do. it's the crappy pay. I've found Americans to be good hard workers but you need the $$$ for it to happen.

When I was a kid that is the work we were expected to do every summer. Pick berries, rogue spinach, plant cabbage, etc. Once you hit 10 years old you went to work in the fields.

Nowadays either kids feel it is 'beneath' them to do manual labor to earn a buck, or the parents feel their kids are 'above' that, feeding their kids sense of entitlement.

Couple of things it taught me was the meaning of a buck, and the meaning of a hard days work. I never cared for the work or wanted to do it, but there also wasn't any debate. Dad said I was doing it, so that was it.

There's no shortage of labor in the U.S. to do these jobs, just people who don't think they have to work to earn a dollar.

There's the answer! These same type of 'low risk' inmates are made to clean up the roadsides, parks etc in TN.....Make'em pick fruits and vegetables. But be prepared for the ACLU to start crying about it too....

This is true, true, true, however, the farmers would rather the product rot in the fields as pay an honest dollar and then cry disaster and still want paid by the govment.

As to welfare, yes it is needed "temorarily" in a small percentage of cases. But there too, it should be half of whatever minimum wage is ( I propose $2.00 a day like the rest of the world) so that employment is much more attractive. Someone has to move the deadbeats either upwards or out.

Americans are fat and lazy and will not do that work. They would rather sit at home complaining about Jose taking their jobs. Now that Jose is gone these same complainers wont step up! As usual people talk a good talk (cheerleaders) but when it comes to ACTING they would rather sit back and let the next guy do it.
