Default EVAP Purge solenoid code 26

Hey guys, I've gone thru and fixed a handful of problems with my 95 since I got it and now I'm starting to get the time to focus on my CEL. When I first got them pulled there was like 5 codes from before, cleared them all and when it was scanned again only code 26 popped up, quad driver module fault. Now I've done some searching and found out thats the EVAP circuit and I found the solenoid for like $25.

Now I'm not sure if anyone else has had this code and what it did, but mine is not always on. Say when I go to work during the week, I start the car, drive it about 15 miles and shut it off for like 8 hours. Then start it and drive it home and same thing, all with no CEL. It seems that if the car cools all the way the CEL wont trigger. Its when the car has been ran and then shut off and started again within a few minutes to a half hour or so, the CEL will come on after a few seconds of the car running. When it comes on its on the whole time I'm moving, and when I come up to a red light and stop for like 5 seconds it will go out, then when I go to move again it comes back on.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had this code and if it behaved the same way mine is, and if getting the new solenoid is the right way to go.

Thanks guys.

Default Did you ever solve your problem?

I just joined and I have this code. I was wondering if there is a tutorial for this fix anywhere?

Knowledge that I've gained:
-The engine light only comes on because the system(voltage) has a cold start time limit before the CPU kicks in and starts dynamically reading values from the car's sensors. Basically it needs to warm up to ensure voltages across the system are at normal operation.
-The symptoms are air circulation problems. This may cause the engine and gas intake to skip (the car is coughing and not breathing correctly). This cause the engine to get out of rhythm.
- This part helps govern how the gas gets burned or use by the engine.
-I used turner pro rt and a hand made cpu interface to read my vehicle's CPU. So i can view all the inner workings while I drive with the help of my laptop & tuner pro rt.

ANY BACK TO MY QUESTION did you ever resolve this (yourself)? If so is there a tutorial/guide?

Thanks

One area I would make suire you check is all of the hoses and connections in this circuit and make sure none are cracked or broken.

Those hoses and lines after so many years can get pretty abused and its not uncommon to have a leak at any one of those. Also be sure to check all the hoses/connections at the canister.

Hmm, I thought I updated this thread but I guess I didn't. I did get the solenoid and swapped it out in a matter of seconds and it fixed my problem. The CEL didn't affect how my car ran, no stuttering or anything, it was just annoying having it go on and off all the time. As soon as I replaced it it never came on again. Its literally like 2 or 3 hoses and a plug and its right on top of the motor on the passenger side.

Gramps - check this pic to get an idea of the location. On our B-Bodies the Charcoal Canister is tucked behind the front bumper cover on the passender side. Just remove the Filler panel on that side and you will see the canister and hoses. I just replaced all mine and they were a mess.....cracked and sooty. Also be sure to check the elbow on the TB as this is another problem area and check all the other hoses very well. honestly, for what hose will cost you at the parts store, just replace it. IIRC - there were 3 different sizes of hose and just be sure to get the hose for Fuel/Vapor and you should be GTG.

Edit - Oops, forgot to add link --- >> http://shbox.com/1/evap_sol.jpg
