Need to hook up to my cars computer and see if there's any codes. I read here that there was a cable and some free software that was very good for use with these cars, but I can't seem to find the thread again. 1995 SS. Anyone?

I think the software is called freescan..but the website seems to be outdated and broken. Still don't know what data cable to buy, or if there's any way to get the software anymore. It's only compatible with the 94-95 SS though.

For '95 OBD1, get an ALDL cable from pcmperformance.com. Get your computer tune from them as well. As mentioned, use Freescan and you should download Datamaster for datalogging. You get 20 runs for free.
For OBD2, someone else will know. Expect it to cost more.

If your OK with a cheap looking cable with pins then you can make your own for about $12.
http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...USB-ALDL-Cable There are many others that are more robust and professinal looking for $50 to $80. TunerPro RT is free to try and $39 to remove nag screen. http://www.tunerpro.net/ TunerPro RT starter Tutorial. http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...is-a-must-read All Bin Editor and Data acqusition files are free. Along with WOT locker and speedo calibrator http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...rmation-EE-EEB To flash the LT1 PCM you need TunerCat Winflash which is $20. http://www.tunercat.com/winflash_des...lash_desc.html Add wide band O2 sensor data to your datastream. http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...eband-Question

I'm gonna buy a cable and try tuner pro. Is there any way to tell from within the software if line pressures in the transmission have been changed at all? Or if I download the rom and post it here can anyone else tell me?
1-2 shift in my car is very firm. I don't want to say it's overly hard, or that it bangs...but it is definitely not the way it came from the factory. I'd like to rule out the simple things before I start crawling under the car with pressure gauges and all. |

Yup, download your PCM and use compare feature in TP against another bin file.

It's in your PCM right? Read it and you have it.
