Default Canadian Speedo
Hi, I'm considering buying a '96 Impala SS with very low orig. miles. One problem...although built in Arlington, Tx. it was sold by GM in Canada so the Speedometer shows kilometers on top and the MPH below. I called a local Chevy dealer and they say I cannot buy a dash cluster any more. I would really like it to have the speed show like all US cars. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Buy a used '96 cluster and swap it. Either that or buy an aftermarket overlay for your gauges.

Not many overlays around that I've found.

Clusters, however, are plentiful enough on eBay

I was trying to avoid teh used cluster route since that would necessarily change the true mileage, But thanks for the idea of teh overlay. Are there better quality makers of overlays vs el-cheapo?

Doug... I guess they are still made. They just replied that they are made to order and are 3-4 Weeks out.
