I just got a 95 9c1 that had a rear out of an older box Caprice installed in it. I have a 9c1 rear out of a 1994 model that I'm currently installing in the car. I'm almost at the rear spring installation part of the project, the springs are stock factory 9c1 springs. My question is, is there such a thing as the rear springs being installed upside down or does it not matter which direction they're put into place? I could have swore one end seemed slightly narrower than the other side but maybe that was my eyes playing tricks on me. If indeed one side is narrower, does the narrower end rest down into the axle or up towards the body? Coming here for confirmation.

I think you are right that the ends aren't identical, but, it doesn't matter as far as functionality.

The top pigtail ends should be perpendicular to the body line.
Are there grooves somewhere for the ends to fit into? Or is that just the front?
