I need to start planning my vacation soon!

Well there you go. Mid-Ohio is a killer road course. There are a couple of walls like Road Atlanta but if you can stay off the concrete it would be a great course to run. Still pretty centrally located. I'd go for it.

Loudon would be sick, but I just cant imagine it ever happening.
It would only "be sick" because you could commute from your house and have a convenient ride. Thats the exact attitude that makes it suck for everyone trying to figure it out. I drove to the Poconos and it was no big deal (5-6 hours maybe)...I drive to Georgia every november and it's not really a big deal either...takes about 13-14 hours to get home if we try...I woulda gone to Indy if it wasn't the one weekend that I REALLY REALLY want to be around home for a different big car event...I'm probably just going to wind up sucking it up and doing the nationals and local stuff every other year...I honestly don't care where the event is...half the fun of owning a car and taking it to a big event like the nationals is the caravan across the country with a bunch of hillarious meatballs that are just as dumb as I am (to think a big 4 door sedan is a performance car). NH would suck for lots of reasons (the first of which being that NED is run by a bunch of idiots and the facility really sucks compared to some of the other tracks in the country...NHIS is cool...but it's nothing spectacular). MA would suck just as bad...THIS is why there should be big regional events...look at SSHS6...how many people go there for that...it's a drag event on the east coast...imagine if we had some big autocross somewhere else and something else some other place...I gotta go work

How about the Southeast?

How about FL. You can make a family trip out of it, and let the wife take the kids shopping and to the beach. :D

Yeah, that's where I want to be in June or July - Florida!

I think that the reality is that if an ISSCA chartered club has not already made a proposal to ISSCA for the 2007 event, it is WAY too late to be considered for this year. But all of these other regions mentioned in this thread can certainly be getting their information together for a proposal for the 2008 event. Even Florida. If the event was there, I'd go. I'd hate the summer heart and humidity, but I'd go. I haven't missed one yet.

The key is that just throwing place names out there is not sufficient effort to make it happen. There has to be a committed local Chartered Club behind it and a proposal must be made far in advance to be considered. If your club is interested in hosting the ISSCA National event, contact your regional director to see what the requirements are for a proposal and of the deadline for submittal.

We - ISSCA Directors - are in the process of making a decision regarding the location of 2007 Nationals. If all goes according to plan we'll have a location selected by November 1, which should give enough time for all who have to submit vacation plans by year end an opportunity to do so.

As soon as we can we'll make an anouncement.

St Louis would be my vote...

I like Indy or St. Louis as the realistic choices.

I'm also for having at the SAME spot for at least a few years, so we can plan our trips accordingly.
I'll second Ed, and Bill. What Paul said.

:D
