Has the dates and location for 2016 Nats been determined?

Seems I read somewhere that it'll be in New Orleans.....

KW,
Yes we are planning NOLA in 2016, so I would guess that means you will attend?

The tentative dates are as follows:

7/27 - AX at NOLA
7/28 - RR at NOLA
7/29 - Drags at No PRoblem
7/30 - Cars Show and Awards (Venue to be determined)

Hopefully we can get some of the Mid South guys to attend. Of course I hope to see everyone there!

Yes I was saddened to hear of his passing. Jim will truly be missed as he was taken from our family before his time.

We will be signing contracts and officially announcing 2016 Nationals, but if you need to book vacation or request time off those are the dates we are going to lock in.

I'd call it 99% solid at this point, just haggling over some details.

Thanks Bill (and the rest of the ISSCA staff), for being a part of bringing this even down this way.

Would it be practical to ship the car,and then fly down in time to meet it's arrival. Then drive back....

And what if I break something down there? Nah, I spent a lot of money on a trailer so I don't ever have to worry about breaking the car far from home, like I did two years ago. Just glad I had a trailer.

Back in 2004 I think it was, several east-coasters pooled together to truck their cars (6 or 8 total) to and from Vegas and they all flew.

Could probably do something like with Ohio/Indiana members.

Just a thought.

I'll drive ,but the '04 drive to Las Vegas just wasn't happening. I did attend '03 in Tulsa, and that was about the limit to my willingness for attending these events. Now that gasoline has come down in price,it's not as big a factor as near $4/gallon gas was... Attending these events (much as I love them) has become more costly over the years. Adding another day,or two for travel to/from these events is a significant burden for many of us I suspect.

Yea, this will be a bit more of an expensive trip as well, but NOLA is well worth it IMO. Vegas, I def wouldn't do unless we did something again like you mention Kev. I'd probably fly into that one just to attend, but without the car.

And yea, lets hope the Gas/Diesel prices hold out Tom.

No doubt! Hell....both my kids played basketball on travelling teams from middle school through high-school.....so when you talk about 'cost', yeah....the travelling is significant!

But when we talk about places like New Orleans or Vegas......it's really easy to look at this as a vacation. The wife and kids met me in Vegas on the last day of the event, there. When my kids played tournaments in Vegas/Orleans/Memphis/Virginia/etc, for my family.....we took each trip was a vacation.

And this year? Me and the GF will likely spend the week(+) in New Orleans.

It's all a matter of our you decide to 'look' at this.......

My wife and I had the experience of a lifetime with our trip out to Vega$ from Atlanta for the Nationals. She said it will never happen again, however she is glad we did it once . . . hehehe
Part of the way we took Route 66 and the scenery was breathtaking. and the plateaus in New Mexico and Arizona were beautiful with their many colored striations. You miss that by flying.

There will be a car carrier going to New Orleans from the NY area but he will go down through PA/NJ and can pick people up as he goes.

It will be less expensive to fly in and have your car meet you there than the gas, the wear and tear, the 2-4 hotel nights, meals on the road, etc. Most important you save 2-4 days off from work.

We did it going to Vegas it was amazing. Fly in and have your car delivered. Plus the sight of all those badass B-Bodies on one car carrier was stunning.

Karl Ellwein, Nabil Guffey, BK, Glen "Stumpy" Koenig, Russell 383 6speed Youngblood, Art SSLED Funk, and Dan Leftwich were on board - some serious machinery.

Let me know if interested...the days you save and the exhaustion of driving are good reasons alone, but the money you save is just as good. My guy transports brand new cars from dealership to dealership all over the country so he's a pro who also knows the significance of these cars. So far it's me, Bob Lynch, Erik, and the spots are filling up. You can also drive your car from wherever to meet him and fly with us the rest of the way.
