I had no concern or issues with the motor, just wanted to see how it was doing now that its got 46k+ mi on it

383 Golen forged short block
GM AL ported heads
Oil filter=WIX
Air Filter=K&N FIPK

Well I'll be. Someone else uses Castrol HM! I've never had an engine tested, but gratifying another motorhead considers "religiously changed reasonable price dino" equal or better than the higher priced spread.



Also, found out why there's calcium in there. Your # is dead-on average.

I only put about 3500-4000 mi a year on the car so change it at 2k mi intervals per builder. Generally around every 8 months. I switched to "high mileage" vs regular as it is a syn/dyno blend a few oil changes ago.

Oil is fairly cheap, I buy it at Walmart. Have always changed oil myself on all my cars. It gives me a chance to look everything over from under the car also.

My DD I change at 5k intervals
