Hard to answer this question. Every speaker is different. The higher wattage or efficiency a speaker is rated at, the bigger the magnet will get in diameter or depth.
If you search template on this forum you will find a 1/2 template mentioned. It might make the difference for you.
You might find a shallow speaker if you shop around.
As a guess if you just want to replace OEM speaker shop around. If you are going high power you will probably need a spacer and a cutting tool.
Aftermarket speakers may sound different with OEM radios as the OEM sometimes has boosted bass to make the OEM speaker sound better.
