91 caprice gauge cluster

Alright, i had a thread a few months ago for this. I only had 1 response that didn't help at all. it keeps coming back invalid so here it goes again.

I have a 91 chevy caprice sedan. Non police, with a non digital dash. All stock.

I'm having problems with the gauge cluster.

The speedometer and both total and trip mileage stopped working. The gas gauge and temp gauge still work.

I've been told it is no longer a mechanical speedometer that it is controled by the computer now. I've had all the sensors that can be replaced, replaced. 5 in all i think he said. I think my friend said this included under the hood, in the dash, and in the rear end.

I'm getting ready to sell this car so i want to get it fixed.

The local junk yard has a 91 with the same gauge cluster as mine.

Whats the chances of replacing the entire cluster with another solving this problem? And what is a fair price to pay for said cluster?

on a side not this whole situation pisses me off cause i have a low mileage granny caprice that i have to sell as unknown mileage. My cluster quit at 59.xxx miles and i'd say i put no more then a couple thousand on it since. So it went from a 2 owner low mileage car to a unknown car. Yay!

Correct in tha the speedo is now an electronic driven unit. There is a sensor on the tailshaft of the tranny, nothing but an ABS sensor on the rear end. There are no sensors under the hood that control the speedo. The only other device is a module attached to the very top of the convenience center (where the flashers are). Then the speedo unit itself.
This was awile ago so i probably stated wrong. I do know though that he replaced all sensors that have to do with the cluster along with a few others trying to solve the problem since the first few didn't.

So i guess i will be swapping out the entire cluster then. Hopefully this will solve my problem so i can put a sign on it.

Whats a fair price for a cluster from a small town upull junky junkyard lol.
