Is this a good price for a caprice? I just test drove one here in town and she rides almost like my SS. Its a 95 and has the LT1 in it. I can probabl get it for $4000 cash bt I don't know if this is good or not. It was a police car so it doesn't look great yet. The body is straight but it has the holes I need to patch. Let me know what you think please.

if its in good shape i would jump on it. if its in poor shape, i would wait because depending where you live, you can probably get the same car for $3000. also how many miles, have the tranny, optispark, or water pump been replaced? this can make a difference in whether or not the car is worth it. with a police car also consider the interior carpet and seats, rubber or fabric? i looked at so many junked out lt1 9c1s, until i finally settled on a cleaner civ version with the L99. i paid $4300, its a 94 with 97k miles, and a nearly perfect body, and i thought that was afair price.

KodonArmada recently posted that he has an active carfax account..you should get the VIN and see what that comes up with. carfax reports don't tell too much, but you'll at least be able to tell where it's been, verify the odometer, and make sure no flood or salvage titles were issued on it...

here's the thread http://www.impalassforum.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=001037

i bought my '95 9C1 for $5k at 66k miles... ran smooth as glass, and i haven't had any engine or tranny problems. you probably won't either. HOWEVER, the suspension is almost guarunteed to need work. keep that in mind.
good luck

I picked up my 96 9c1 for 3000 cash. Its in perfect working condition, 130,000 miles. I know for sure that the tranny was rebuilt recently, and overall it looks like the car was driven lightly. The interior is all cloth and carpet: no rubber or vinyl, and most of the holes (roof, spotlight) have been filled already. I don't know, maybe I got an exceptionally low price, but its something to compare to.
