Because my 9C1 spends most of the time in the garage I figure its time to redo the interior--

I don't have any before pics because its a typical police interior with beat up rubber floor covered in holes with wires randomly going no where

In its placed will go carpet and a console in between the bucket front seats-- i like column shift and am not a big fan of the blazer consoles so I will have to make my own--

I pulled about 10 feet of police light bar wiring and a few others that were cut near where the police console once was--

QUESTIONS

Then I found new wires were run for the alarm door pins instead of using factory wiring --Where under the dash do all the door pins wiring come together?

There is a unknown connector that is near the center tunnel that was near the rear of the drivers side seat-i will attach a pic- any ideas whats it for?

On the front passenger floor board there is a cluster of 4 wires that go to the firewall bulkhead and into the engine bay -- from there i cant tell where they go-- I will attach a pic- Any ideas?

The car was an old Saratoga Springs NY Sheriff Car- it had 2 holes in the rear of the headliner -- Don't think lights were mounted to it due to the lack of support---

The unknown connector appears to be for a drivers side power seat, probably enough cars got drivers side power seats that it justified the cost to make all the harnesses ready for that option. Passenger side power seats werent as common so that is likely why it has no connector on that side.

Police cars in general tend to be a mess of hacked up wires. I just followed most of them back to where they started to see what they were. The FSM is always your friend.

You had better get aggressive on that rust or replace.
That's the plan... Pictured above is by far the worst area...nothing on the rear pans and a little spot on the passenger side...

Not to sure if its too far gone to just por15 and use fiber glass patch or if the entire area needs to be cut out... Think the cause was the seam on the firewall..one spot you see near the brake pedal and let water run down..it does sound pretty solid when tapped on and a screw driver can't be put thru it... Underside doesn't look bad in that area...

What thickness metal is used for the floor pans?

I'd track down the wires in the engine compartment. Take advantage of them already being run. Maybe use for gauge sending unit, manual fan switch, kill switch,line-loc,etc,etc... The possibilities are truly endless.

Used Por 15 and Por 15 putty on the rusted floor pans...

I used the metal ready first to treat the rusted metal... Then por 15 all rusted areas. I then used the por 15 putty to fill in all holes.

Then started to lay down some dynamat.... Got the front half done. Still need to do the rear section.

Thanks for adding your link fuzz... My rubber floor was in ok shape.. I wanted to replace it with carpet. I still have it folded up in the trunk.

My floor pan had the same rubber coating that was glued down. I only peeled it back from around the edges where there was rust. The one section I peeled off completly had no rust underneath so I left the other sections in.

I would not trash your rubber floor unless it is really tore up. They are impossible to find new and used in any kind of shape besides trashed is getting hard to find.

You can see my interior re-do in my build log: 94 9C1 refreshening

Not to bump up an old thread but all this talk about rubber carpeting makes me wonder if any of you guys still have them and want to offload it? I'm restoring a 9c1 and am looking for rubber carpeting because my one is so brittle that it comes apart if I try to lift it out. And I don't want to go the civilian model carpeting route. I'm looking for a set.

Also would be cool to see how the OP's interior swap ended up.
