I worked on my Wife's 1992 Caprice today and installed the following parts. K&N air filter for stock air cleaner, MSD ignition coil and JEG's injector spacer. All together they made a nice gain in throttle response and it definately pulls harder. The injector spacer was the most difficult to install as I had to disconnect the fuel lines and fittings in order to get the injector assembly off. If anyone needs any tips on installing this stuff on your car, let me know and I'll tell you what to look out for.

You may also want to consider a TBI riser plate like the one's sold by CFM Technologies with the center divider removed for a solid increase in airflow.

Cutting down the center divider in my T&T spacer made a big difference in throttle response and power in my '92.

Dave,

I know there are throttle body spacers out there that are supposed to create more volume for the air/fuel charge. My concern is with hood clearance. Could you tell me more about removing the center devider? Are there any pictures, before and after of this?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, this is what I mean by the cut-down center divider on the TBI riser plate:

Go here to see their complete TBI performance parts page.

I have had no issues with hood clearance with the riser plate.

I've never seen that site before. Looks like I'll be getting the TB spacer. Thanks Dave!

Glad to help, Chris. It does make a differnce, but as Ken Rolt has mentioned, I'd do this mod along with an increase in fuel pressure with the quarter mod. I will say this much - the stock T&T spacer I had made my car lose performance according to the G-Tech. Removing the spacer and cutting down the center for more airflow, reinstalling and running the car at WOT revealed the power came back with a bit more (I havent done a G-Tech run yet this year.) according to the ole seat of the pants.

The essential point with the T&T spacers in my experiencee then, is the center divider must either be cut down as the CFM Tech unit above, or simply buy the CFM Tech plate. There's no question in my mind they work. Just my .02.
