Figured I'd share the story and build of my 95' Impala SS I recently bought. These have been my dream cars since I was a kid. After selling my 93' Caprice a few years ago I havent been right lol. The car was sold to a company called Peddle who basically gives you an offer for whatever car and then they come buy it. I checked their website for giggles and the offer was $475 for the car......Anyways I picked it up at a salvage auction for quite a bit more than that. It has 81,000 miles and from what I can gather the car has been sitting in a driveway since 2008. The underside has some scaly rust all over but nothing is soft and rotted through from what I can tell. The only rot is on the lower drivers quarter, although the pinch weld is fine. So I'll need to find a patch for that, but all the other known rust areas are solid. My plans are to redo the suspension and brakes first. Then LS swap and redo the interior. At some point I will do bodywork repaint it. It took a slight beating sitting so long.

I gave it a huff of starting fluid and it fired right up. So I ordered a new sending unit and walbro 255. That way I can kill two birds with one stone since I'll be dropping in a 5.3 I built awhile back. It has a SS2 cam and LS6 intake. It was for another car so its painted blue, I'm hoping it wont look too out of place. I cleaned up and painted some parts since they were a bit crusty. I cleaned up any rust in the gas tank area and treated it with POR 15. Finished up with some chassis black. I went ahead and changed the rear differential oil while I was there. I'm pretty sure this is the first time the car has been inside in a longgggggg time. Next up is some new tires so I can get the original wheels all back on.

Great looking motor! Do you plan on keeping the stock color of the car or going with the traditional black? I got a grat deal on my caprice a few weeks ago and am debating on swapping out the lt1 for an 5.3l out of my suburban. So, ill be following your post to look at progress of the swap.bit just a thought, if you go black your accents, badges, interior stitching etc could match the blue of that sexy motor.

The plan is to paint it back the original dark cherry. Although painting it black has crossed my mind, I actually won an auction for a black 1996 Impala but was never contacted. I haven't had much time to work on it lately but I'll post some more on my swap in the near future
