Can you run 275/40/17 up front and 275/45/17 in the back without tripping up your ABS? The sidewall difference between the two is .54 of an inch, diameter deference is 1.08.

they dont make 275/45/17 but it would work, i think the rule is keep the height within an inch of each other and it shouldnt throw the abs off, but itll still throw the speedo off and whatnot..

You can run over an inch of difference w/o an issue. A half-inch is no problem.

Thanks for the replies guys! Well I thought 275/45/17 were no longer in production but used to be.. and I thought I found some used ones on ebay with 50% tread left for real cheap..

was wondering why you would have 2 different series...

i vouch for 275 40 series all the way around. computer tune it, and keep em rotated. they ride good and are very sticky on the road. much grip!

Cause I have a roadmaster and imo 275/40/17 doesn't look right. Our wheel wells in the front look bigger than impala's so 275/40/17 just doesn't fill the wheel well right.

I ran a 20/22 stagger and my ABS never complained.

well, considering tire height is what matters and not rim size, thats kind of a bad analogy...

Considering I ran a 255/35r20 and 265/35r22, I CAN say, that's not supposed to work. You're talking a 2 inch difference in height.

right, that is good for him to know. i've just always heard over an inch diff messed up the abs.


but they do make 20" tires that match up with 22" tires in height you just need skinny ass tires on the 22s...rim size usually has nothing to do with it.

you coulda run this
255/40/20 = 28"
and
255/30/22 = 28" or (stretch i know, but still) 315/25/22 = 28.2"

or

255/35/20 which is 27"
and
295/25/22 which is 27.8" and still be good.

no abs problems guaranteed. but this thread is about same size rims so none of this matters anyway.
