With a faulty AIR pump, the car should start and run fine, at least until it warms up and enters closed loop operation.

Check for vacuum leaks, condition of plugs, wires, fuel pressure....

It could be your EGR valve if it stalls at idle.

The EGR system is a seperate system. The AIR pumps are known for getting water/moisture in them and fail. That moisture could be getting in there at your MAF.

I just did the AIR pump delete on my '94. The pump worked fine but I wanted to get rid of the piping. Being in my climate, cold starts are few and far between anyway :)
