If I put these on a stock 9c1, will it raise the rear when they are inflated with no cargo? Im tryin to limit suspension travel without having to raise the rear. TIA

EDIT: Are these the right part number? AIR-60755

Are you doing this for road course racing or drag racing? Just wondering
Or maybe because you dont like rear suspension travel :D

I can speak to these as far as Impala springs are concerned. I run these with SS springs, and when they are inflated a lot (30+psi) which you would never really need except if you wanted a rock hard ride and a really sharp rake, they do raise the rear.

But if you only put about 8psi in, the back stays fairly level with the front and it firms up the ride nicely. You can definitely see the back end raise and lower when you change the air pressure in the bags, though.

I have a set in my 94 9C1... and with the minimum 5psi it does not lift the rear of the car.

Is there a difference in part #s for Caprice (9c1) and ImpalaSS, or is it the same bag? If they are the same bag I can see where it would raise the rear on an SS being it has slightly lower springs.

Yes, 60755 is the correct part number for the 9C1. No, there is a different part number for the SS - 60786. Refer to http://www.airliftcompany.com/new-index/Frameset.htm

I had the 60755 installed in my 9C1 before I lowered it. Like the others have mentioned, it will raise the car if they are inflated. 5 psi is the minium allowed. With only 5psi this does not effect the ride height or the handling characteristics very much. Now when you put 10 or 12 psi the ride height is not changed very much at all, but the springs do become stiffer. As mentioned previously, if you put the 35 psi in, the ride height is raised substantially - and the springs become very stiff.

When I lowered my car I kept the old hardware from the 60755 in place and just changed the bags. If you are interested, I'll sell the old bags (60755, with 20k miles) and the new hardware for $40 + shipping.

The rear springs in my 96SS were sagging to the point that the top of the fender well was about even with the top of the (stock)tires. The Air-Lifts come with a hocky puck looking spacer that fits in the bottom spring pocket. With 5 lbs of air the car is raised back to stock height. It now has a slight rake with stock tires and wheels. The most air pressure I have run is 15 lbs with a full trunk. This brings the back end up level. I installed them for the trip to Tulsa and they have worked fine ever since. I'd suggest installing the heat shields, they do rattle occasionally but without them the air lines and bags will get a lot of heat and have been known to fail.

JP, since youve had both bags for 9c1 and SS, could the SS bags be used in place of the 9c1. How much would shipping be to 32948

I dont like suspension travel. With the wheels/tires I got if I have any cargo or go over any bumps or big dips in the road they will rub on the inside top of the wheel well. If Im on a flat road and no cargo everythings fine and dandy.

I haven't tried - but I do not think that the SS bags could be used in 9C1 spings. The SS bags are much smaller.

I'll PM you with details on the shipping tommorow.
