Well the work continues for this old dude. I have decided to go with an all Alpine system since I already have some Alpine stuff sitting here. I picked up a Alpine Type-E SWE-1041 sub yesterday for a very good price. Yes it is an entry level speaker but I really don't need much more than that. Now as for the amp.....I'm looking at the MRPM350. God or Bad? Would the T220 be just as good?

Here is the set up as it currently stands:

7824 Head unit. (Older but very good and I got a new remote for it.)

3321 EQ. (Yeah, I know....I like them though.)

CHM S620 Changer. (Thanks for the advise on this one guys!)

SWE-1041 sub.

Now....I have decided to go with a 3 amp set up not a single 5 channel. I want to run 6 1/2" seperates in the doors and rear deck. Alpine will be used. Any comments on that setup? Other than "why Alpine?".

Thanks in advance

Murray

Alpine - great decks, bad speakers. Good luck!

Murray, Just curious as to why you choose to use a 3 amp setup rather than a 5 channel or a 4 channel and a mono sub amp (2-Amp Setup)?. Im using the Alpine MRV-F450 5 Channel Amp (55 Watts RMS X 4 Channels + 200 Watts RMS X 1 Channel) to run the whole show in my Caprice.
Im using Infinity Kapaa 6 1/2" Components In the front doors and a set of Kapaa 4X6 Plates in the rear for fill. Im driving 2 Kicker 8" Free Airs in the rear deck 6X9 Holes with the 200 Watt 5th Channel of the amp. I dont require "Mind Rattling" Bass, Just a good low end fill for classic rock etc.. So this setup works for me! I would think you could get a good alpine 4 channel amp and a single mono amp to drive the sub if power is your concern? I have never tried Alpine speakers so I cant pass judgement there but I Have an Alpine CDA-D857 Head unit and Love it and the Alpine 5 Channel Amp worked perfect for my senario and it also saves space! Mounting 3 amps in the trunk is going to consume some space if that's where you plan on putting them?

I keep going back and forth on the amp set up. I'm back to the F450 now. After taking a look at the cost of a multi amp setup it will end up being less with the F450. I can pick one up on Ebay for much less than retail. I don't require big bass either. I have no interest in showing off or having my neighbors know I have a "system".

I've never run a 10" before. I ran many 12"'s in various configs and ran upto 16 8"'s isobaric <sp?> at one time. The 10 just fit the bill right now. I have a good box design for it and it fits.

I have never gone wrong using Alpine stuff before so I figured I'd stick with it. I never used their speakers before but, for someone like me, how much difference can there really be in brands? Alp's are a little more $ than some and a little less $ than others. Just figured I would keep it a matched system.

I'll be mounting the sub today. Okay, well, I'll be building the box and mounting it today so we'll see how it goes. Gotta make a router attachement first. I'll keep updateing as I go.

Does anyone with the Alpine 6.5" component set tell me if it will fit without cut the door shell. I got them but haven't install them yet and they look pretty big.
