Are there any Air Conditioner Improvement Mods?

Just got my AC competely charged.
Works OK except in the Hot Sun.
Then takes a while to cool down.
and
Not very well at Idle.

My Dad's 94 Roadmaster seems to be cooler and quicker.

Was wondering if there were any tricks to improve AC performance?

I know this is an old post but ...when I got my car back in 2004 and had the seals replaced and the system charged it didn't blow cold air very well at all.

Well I took it to a shop that specialized in A/C and they told me to have my guy flush the system prior to recharging it.

I took it back to my guy and he had the machine to do it (I didn't ask why didn't he do it right the first time). ...anyway after he flushed the system, recharged it it blew cold as hell.
R 12 can get 8 degrees COLDER

My 91 caprice factory service book about 800 pages has a chart showing at certain outside temp. and relative humidity R 12 is 8 degrees colder than R 134. Why not convert back IF one can make it cost effective ?
Legitimate Question

But all pertinent and valid discussion of the planet's ozone depletion aside, there is not anything about converting to R-12 that could ever be made quote: "cost effective".
R-12 freon:
-Cannot even be purchased retail, by individuals, except perhaps in Mexico.
-Is priced exorbitantly high, even if one wants to brag about having a "connection" or wholesale source to purchase it.
-A super flush of the old refrigerant and oil is needed, and at least some of the components require replacement, which only adds insult to injury for the change.

IMO cost effective is following all the suggestions above for thorough cleaning and proper charging. But I'm in to hear what the pros may say.

My system has never been anything but R12, and I froze my butt off in this wagon even on the hottest days here in FL. Then I discovered my system was low. Since I charged it back up, I only use max AC until the heat accumulation has been purged. After that, my face and knuckles are numb from the Siberian blast.

You want to see a dirty evaporator? This was from my Dodge van:

Now that's some repugnant s*** right there.

I have the B4U mech fan with the secondary electric fanhttp://www.bizrate.com/electric-fan...ID]__af_placement_id--[AFF-PLACEMENT-ID].html. I discovered that the programming for the primary electric fan is still active in the PCM just no pin going to the connector. (Black PCM connector C11). I moved the secondary fan relay trigger (C10) over to the primary fan (C11) trigger slot. Now the fan comes on with the A/C and I have a lower turn on temp for the electric fan. The A/C is noticeably colder with the mech fan and the electric fan on at the same time. The only drawback is the PCM throws a P1642 code for the 2nd fan relay b/c it's no longer connected. I took a spare relay and wired that to the 2nd fan trigger coming from the PCM, no more CE light.
I expanded the insulation of my AC lines to include the suction line leading toward the compressor:
