Any interest in a WSHS? Western Super Heavy Shootout...

I've played around with the idea of this and want to see if the west coast guys would like to get together for a Western Super Heavy Shootout. Winter weather is coming and that means fast times here in Phoenix. Weather will be great during the day and 1/4 mile times will be going down. I'm inviting the other clubs on the west coast to help put together a drag racing event here in Phoenix. I an pretty tight with Firebird Int'l Raceway and I believe I can put together a daytime race event for us pretty easily.

Respond if you're interested either as a club to help or as an individual to race.

This is a public datime race as per the info in their schedule.

I have spoken with the race director and that is how I came up with the 40 car field limit and 3 classes. Since this is my first event I didn't want to chance a $5K it would take to rent the track and the $5M insurance policy we would need.
If this turns out well then next year we will have the track to ourselves!

Are you at work behind a firewall or proxy server? If so they might not allow the port 8080 appended to the address to work. If you are sure you want to go email me directly and I will enter your information - need name, forum name, year, model and what class you want to race.

BTW,
How good is the track? I race on street tires (Yoko A520's) and they have gotten kinda hard and spin easily. My best 60' on these was a 2.2 at carlsbad (but carlsbad really sucks)

It depends on who's running that day. If there's any dragsters out then the track will be awesome. If only street cars show up then it will be mediocre to great. I've been able to get a get of 1.90x 60' time with nitrous so far and 1.98x 60' NA.

That's on the Nitto's but I have gotton a 1.9x on street tires last year...

Eric,
If you can consistently pull 2.2 or even 2.5 60's, it won't matter. Your ET should stay consistent. Who cares what tire you bring. Have fun!

On a better note, I have at least second place wrapped up. I just gotta out 60 foot Bob and tree the hell outta him.

We basically went by the ISSCA rules (since HOSS is an ISSCA Chartered Club)

I am too far west to make it to the SSHS2 and too far East to make it to the WSHS

The fastest car with AZ plates NA or power adder or doesn't matter. I take bets that I still got the fastest beastie in AZ overall...
My nitrous was only working 40% of the time down the track due to a bad ground. I knew something was wrong when after 4 or 5 passes I still had 8 lbs of nitrous left in a 10 lb bottle! I've fired it up since with everything done right and let's just say a motorcycle couldn't beat me... Installing headers today, hot cam and ported heads in the next 3 or 4 weeks...

Low 13's on motor and real low 12's maybe even high 11's on juice....

What is the schedule like for the event? How many test and tune runs prior to eliminations? Will it be double or single elimination? Consolation race? Just wondering.

There will be two timed runs before the racing starts. I won't have the ability to do a buy back or losers bracket due to the fact that others will be there as well. I promise we will have a great time and next year once I get done cutting my teeth on this even it will be off the hook!
It will require approximately 100 participants at $50 per to rent the whole track for ourselves next year. Depending on the turnout and desire I might even be able to put together a spring show in March or April of 2003 if enough interest.

Please take me off of the list of attendees...at least to race that is. Unfortunately, my car will not be ready in time.

I plan on going just to root you guys on....and to watch Noel take heads-up NA by default.
