My 96 caprice, has power locks, but crank window, my 95 has power everything, but the body is junk. Questions is, do the power window and doors plug in under the dash, or are they hard wired? I would like to move the 95 doors to the 96 and hook up the window, if possible?
Thanks

I think the window wiring is part of the main wiring harness, not a "plug and play" option.

I didn't know they'd offered crank windows on the 96ers...

Just a guess, but on a lot of the vehicles ive had experience with, the harness is a standard harness for all vehicles of a model, so the plugs would be there ... not sure if this applies to caprices or not, but it did on a few of my other vehicles ive re-done over the last couple years...

The plugs are there - but you must swap in the entire harness for the doors to get it to work.

Hey Moa, what are the condition of your front door panels?? I would like to keep my manuals and am looking for some decent replacements, if the price is right!

Honestly I would check around to see what you have there already. Quite often enough, GM just like other Manufacturers would use alot of the same stuff between the cheaper and higher cost models to save money in the long run.

I have had several cars over the years that were "Base" models, but stil had alot of the previsions already there. Generally I would just needed to connect the pig-tail where it went, and maybe add a fuse or two. I've had two Bufford's, one Caddyo, two Rocketship's,one Pickem'up and two Ex-Cruiser's that way, so I don't see the harm in looking!

My current 96 Ex-Cruiser has te previsions for the Majority of the power options, even though it never had them. Like I said it has Manual windows, but it has a switch pig-tail for the window controls. When I bought it, the factory cable remote mirror was junk, so I bought a power mirror with intention of wiring it in. After I went through the trouble of running wire through the door and under the dash, I looked closer at the wiring that was taped to the inside of the door. Wound up finding the connections for the power mirror and the mirror control switch(Didn't even have to put in a fuse)
