How in the F*#$ do ya get the panel off?!?! I've been on it for an hour and can't do what the Hayne's manual makes look easy. First off, I can't get the "inside door trim bezel" to come out (you know, where the lock and unlock button is). I took out the screw, unhooked the retaining clips but can't get the thing out. I fear if i pull any harder or in any other direction it'll snap in half.


Second, I can't disconnect the large electrical connector under the armrest control plate. I worked on that one for about half an hour. I'm soaked in sweat and frustrated enough for one day. A buddy of mine is coming over when he wakes up so we can get this thing going. Can someone offer any advice on these 2 problems? :(

Don't be afraid to pull on stuff. You need to wrestle with it to get it off. To get the bezel off, you need to maneuver it over the inside door handle. You may need to pull on it to get get the locking piece inside to come loose too. Once you have the bezel freed, you can unhook the connector alot easier.


Just take your time and don't be paranoid of breaking stuff. As long as you take care and not pull on things in a direction other then that intended, stuff will not break. Use a putty knife or big flat screwdriver to unhook the clips on the perimeter of the door panel. You'll have to buy new clips as many of them end up breaking.

Update: went to the fridge, grabbed my last brew and head back out. With the help of 2 small and 1 large flathead screwdrivers (and "liquid courage"), I wedged out the electrical connector. I didn't see any, but it felt as if someone made the connection with JB Weld.

Still need serious help with the inside door trim bezel. I am beyond stumped on that one

Update II: got mad, turned green, got big and ripped the bezel out. Surprisingly, no harm to it. Turns out the up/down locking lever was pinned in the button. Jiggled it and poof, it was free. Yay me :rolleyes:

Finally, so i can master the door-taking-off task. Once all the clips are removed/broken or in one instance having the panel attachment break
, how does the panel come out? I've pulled, tugged, bent up, cussed at and even elbow dropped the darn thing. Can't feel anything underneath it to hold it back. Do i just summon the strength of 1000 men and pull the thing straight up? Thanks! Almost there! :D

i take it you have all the screws out (5 total) 2 @ the pull handle, 2 under the arm rest and 1 @ the lower left near the light (someone always misses that one).
the window should be down and with everything else loose tug up on one end (the latch end works for me) and it should come up and out.

keep us posted...

So the window should be down? ****. That means i'll have to hook that damn electrical connector up again. **** **** **** ****.......****. Alas, hopefully patience really is a virtue
:rolleyes: Are there any other tips/tricks i should know about?

Yeah, everything else was out besides the top of the panel. It's just a gull wing panel right now. I'll be getting up at the ass-crack of dawn to go at it again. If everything else goes as "well" as this has so far, I'll be lucky if i can get just my front speakers in and all four doors covered in brown bread. I better not have rented that heat gun for nothing.

You Dont Have To Push The Electrical Connector For The Window Switch All The Way Back On To Roll The Window Down, Just Push It Half Way On, Turn The Igniton Key Forward And Try It, You May Have To Wiggle The Connector a Little But It Will Work, When It's Down, Take It Back Off! The Way We Used To Do It On The B-Body's At My GM Plant Was To Get The Battery From a 12 Or 18 Volt Powerpack, Take 2 Pieces Of Wire And Insert 1 Wire In The Neg (-) Side Of The Wire Harness And 1 In The POS(+) Side That Operate The Window Motor (The Actual Colors Of The 2 Wires Slip My Mind Now But If I Had The Door Panel Off I Could Tell You). Then Just Touch The Other Ends Of The 2 Wires To The Battery Terminals From The Power Pack. Window Rolls Down. Flip The Wires On The Battery, Window Rolls Up. The Battery From The Power Pack Is 12VDC (The Same as a Car Battery But Less Amps). You Can Actually Roll Down Any Of The 4 Windows In The Car From The Drivers Side Switch Connector. This Tip Is Good For The Guys That Have Say, The Motor Out Of The Car And The Battery Disconnected. We Used To Use This Method When Some "Idiot" Left One Of The Windows Rolled Down And a Car Was Getting Ready To Go Into The "Water Test" Tunnel And The Cars Didn't Even Have The Battery's In Them Yet!
In Your Case, Just Put The Switch Half Way On, Roll The Window Down And Pull It Back Off!.......Mike

The passenger panel is off!!!
Woo-Hoo!!! Thanks, guys. I really appreciate all y'alls' help. One down, three to go :D

Edit: All done. First one, 2 hours. Last 3, a little over 1 (including labeling all screws, switches, etc...)
