Great point. As previously pointed out on my posts, my centrifugal set up has some pretty ugly overhang too. The LS motors allow for a much stronger supercharger set up; that is for sure. Add in the difficulty of tuning a supercharged LT1, and what you are going to spend on forged internals, fuel injectors, transmission upgrades, etc, etc, and it seems chasing a big horsepower, supercharged LT1 set up is a dreamers folly.

Well I have like $7k into an LS motor going into my truck that still has more that has to be done to it. I hope to have that in the truck before winter hits. Especially since I plan to use it to tow with.

So if there is a Gen 1 SB blower intake that will bolt up to the LT1 I would greatly like to know where to get it. I was talking to the guy at the dealership near me (Berger is known nationally for putting out powerful cars), and we found the dual plane carb intake that they still sell. I tell you, looking at the variety of engines they had sitting there it would be hard not to just grab one of those and stick it in. They had a Z06 engine with blower on it... $15k.. I will have that in probbaly both of my engines combined or close to it by the time they get done. But it only put out about 650hp and about the same ft/lbs. Only he says... ;) He did see where a couple people made their own intakes for the blowers. When I have a home shop I could probably do something similar if I have to. Although my cutting and welding skills aren't all that.

There are some 1000 hp lt1's out there... I read an article where they compared this LT1 to the current crop of LS1 and the article showed that they were getting more power per CI on the LT1 due to the higher compression, reverse flow coolant and some other things. So I guess I am not scared to upgrade this engine and get some power out of it.. worst case I will have this old 5.3 out of my truck...

From the picture you can see I am married to an LT1 too, and I am not disrespecting the platform in any way. The LT1 does make a great stroker, and responds to nitrous well. I am certain there are many nice supercharged LT1's out there; we know anything is possible with enough time and money. I am pretty sure you are not shooting for 1000 hp, even though you have not laid out your goals for the supercharged version of your car.
At the time I built my engine, I wanted to go LS for my goals, but many years ago LS swaps were not a "thing" yet. I have had a centrifugal on my Impala since 1995, so I was comfortable with the problems, and I liked the power delivery. Admittedly the LT1 is not the optimal "blower" platform, and the long snout overhang is certainly a contributor to that caveat.
Now that swap parts are plentiful, I see the equation like this: 550 hp and less, stay LT1. above 550 hp, the LS starts to make a lot more sense. As your hp goals get to 600 hp and higher, the LS platform starts to make more sense.
Honestly, with all the projects you have going, I don't know how you are finding the time or money to complete any of them. It took me forever to do one project, so I wish you luck on all of yours.

Projects... Yea... The LS motor for my truck is at the machine shop getting redone because it was stored in a storage unit and got some rust on some of the surfaces. That hurts a little.. An extra $1000 I wasn't planning on. It should be in my truck in January/February. Paying off some debt while I research if I go with 4l80E or 6l90E with 4x4 TC.

CTS, That is more of a small project. Something I will likely do as I can. Just need to fabricate some stuff up to get this super charger onto that car. Figuring out how to mount it all will be the hard part. if I can get it all to fit right it will likely be a 2 week project to get it all fabbed up and installed. Then have to find a tuner that has access to a 2 axle Dyno.

Caprice, well I am seriously considering just buying a Rolling Impala and stripping this caprice. Getting harder to think of doing much with this caprice when I can buy a decent Impala that won't need any of the work I need to do on this. Then I can have this motor redone as a stroker and go from there. I can likely adapt a Whipple blower to this car for about $1000 beyond the cost of the blower and supporting hardware. Have a local guy thats really thinking about selling his impala for about $8k.. But Not sure... I haven't ditched this project yet, I just actually moved my caprice between storage units but I start figuring out how much work is ahead on this caprice and I start wondering if it is worth redoing THIS caprice or just go with something else. The frame has some rust but is very solid. I had the back half of my 94 cut off and replaced with one off a 95 that was rust free as the rear quarters were rusting away. Just thinking that finding a nice rust free car will get me a lot further... The engine was running fine in this car but havent tried to start it since 08. Dunno yet... I have time to figure it out. If I am going to take an Impala and make it up the way I want which includes require roll cage, reinforcing the frame etc then I might just be better off making this an Impala Clone and be done with it. Just not sold on the fact that an LS is going to make my life any easier than just redoing this LT1. Even if I end up with an aftermarket engine controller to properly make it run. I will likely be shooting into the 1000hp range. When the time comes I will make a decision. At worst I will have a lot of parts to sell off. lol.
