Not looking to pile on but it is very well known that any sort of lube on the seal and it is going to leak. Better to deal with it now then later don't you think?

Mike--Hamilton Chevy
It's not well known enough for me to have ever heard or seen a peep about it.

I am leaving the seal, because it's not going to leak.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying you guys are wrong.

I'm just saying this isn't the time or the place for me to care about something like that. I need my garage space ASAP.

When the seal starts leaking, you guys get to laugh. For now, I will just amend my post.

Honestly I was just trying to help you. Not offend you. Best of Luck on the seal.

Let's not talk about how much steelstik is under the hood of this car.

Honestly I was just trying to help you. Not offend you.
Not sure why you would think I was offended.

I'm hoping to get the trans in soon. I have to pull the crossmember out of my 94, because it's the only crossmember I have.

Tomorrow will be exactly 2 years without a drink. Not even sure what I'm doing tomorrow, but, yay.

I decided to buy a factory crossmember from @vautsmeier (highly recommended for used parts, BTW).

Now, I don't have to bother removing the crossmember from my 94. More time = good.

This car will get "put up" as soon as I pop the trans in. I just want to hear it run, and then it's on to the next project. I will bring it back out in the spring.

My winter plans have changed slightly:

I have been preparing to rebuild my bad-weather toy (Audi), which is now slotted as the official "over-the-winter" project. I may post an occasional picture in this thread.

In the short term, I will be rushing to get my 85 Eldorado road-ready for a winter run as a daily.

The Eldorado runs great, and has low miles. I have owned it for almost 10 years, and it was parked in 2014 after a fender-bender. Life happened, and I have only partially finished the body work. I just bought the complete filler trim kit that I needed. From there it is basically just replacing a fender. I will spray the car in primer for now and eventually paint it, once I get other priorities handled. I am excited to clean her up a bit... It has been so long that it almost feels like getting a new car. I'm sure some of you can relate to that feeling with various projects.

In other news:

I didn't want to turn this into a health journal, but at this point I figure I need to follow through.

My saliva DNA test was a failure for technical reasons, so I had to go get blood drawn at their lab. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for those results.

I had my follow-up appointment with gastro on 8/29, and the specialist ordered a CT scan of my entire abdomen and pelvis. This is huge, because we are talking about such a large area. We will be able to confirm or rule out lots of stuff. At the same time, this is a bit scary, because we are concerned about a few different issues that are potentially serious and may stem from my past alcoholism. Back when I was drinking, I used to have issues with severe pain in my upper abdomen, which at the time I assumed had to be my liver. Repeated normal liver tests reassured me that I was "fine", but I now know that I could very well have been experiencing pancreatitis. The CT is scheduled for 9/13 at 7:45 am. Fingers crossed.

@96 Black you should request some imaging of your pancreas (they can do it fairly easily these days). I say this because pancreatic cancer is one of the most undetectable cancers, and one of the least treatable once it advances. Alcohol is at the top of the list of risk factors.

Also: I had to hire an attorney for my driving on suspended case, but I think the case will get dismissed. I just submitted a big file folder of documentation to my attorney to corroborate my story.

Am I crazy for thinking this might look good on a Fleetwood?

View attachment 207358
If you are, you can always try it in such a way that we need never find out about it unless you go out of your way to post pics of it.

The Fleetwood's style is art-deco, conservatively evolved.
That spoiler contrasts because it is clearly not art-deco in any way.
Whether or not that contrast is clever gawdy gauche or repulsive is in the beholder's eye.
