Over a year ago I had a thread about my 95 Caprice Wagon with a start then dies problem. I had installed a brand new fuel pump and things were going great until one day, I started the car and the engine immediately died, and it kept doing that, maybe coughing a little. I did all the diagnostics but one, a fuel pressure test, then had to abandon the car for awhile. I finally towed it to a mechanic who did the fuel pressure test, and he found that the problem was a split in the output hose in the fuel pump assembly. WTF? It was a decent pump, too, or so I thought.

I wanted to share this bit of info with everybody. I am thrilled to have the "war wagon" back on the road, and if I have my way, I will cure as many of its oil leaks as I can - front main seal, intake manifold gaskets, oil filter gasket or whatever you call it. I have all the parts, I just need the time. Thanks to all on the forum for being there and I look forward to your continuing support!

Depending on which hose you installed, some will split, and some will last a long time.

I installed a complete Delphi pump assembly, $233 from Rock Auto - not just the pump, so it was, sadly, new part failure. There were only 396 miles on it. When I did the install I read a lot of threads where guys had to drop the tank more than once, trouble shooting new pumps, but I didn't think that would happen to me. WRONG! Live and learn, live and learn. (y)
