hey guys im having a problem with my positive battery wire. It seems like it keeps getting loose and wont make a good connection and i will have to either move it around or reconnect it and then i will get power back. It seems like no matter how much i tigthen it, it manages to get loose and the cables can move slightly. when that happens it wont start and its annoying because my girlfriend drives it mostly now, and she will be stranded sometimes. Is it possible that maybe inside the side terminal threads are stripped not allowing the bolt to completely tighten? because i will tigthen it until it will not turn anymore and you can still move the cables. If anyone that has had this problem can help me out it would be appreciated. Car is a 94 caprice, side post terminals

yea, i went to the junkyard and got a new bolt and its still doing it. I guess im SOL and have to get a new battery. But yea, the group sizes are different for 5.7 and 4.3. It looks like the 5.7 one is slightly bigger but it should fit in the tray

I had the exact same problem. I bought a battery with the standard top terminals and had new clamps wired in. It really isn't that expensive. A good car audio shop can do it. I used the Stinger style of clamps that you have to tighten with an allen wrench. I never have any problems now.

changed the battery and the problem is solved. when the cable i completely tigthened it doesnt move anymore. The old battery looked stripped inside the threads. And a battery for a 5.7 does fit, even though it is a tad bigger.

You can't just keep tightening a side terminal. The insert is soft and the bolt will strip the threads. It should be snug but not overtight. If everything is clean without corrosion a snug fit is adequate.
