Somehow one of the front lower shock mount tabs broke off the 96SS recently. Not sure when though as the wife drives the car 95% of the time. (therein lies the problem). Anyway, does anyone know if Bilstein can provide replacement lower mounts? Looks like a new mounting stud with tabs and a bushing can be pressed in.

I believe Bilsteins have a lifetime warranty : I'd contact Bilstein North America. If I had to guess, they'll just send you an entire replacement shock...

Bilsteins warranty has been very iffy at best in the past for a friend of mine...especially when dealing with issues related to how they mount to the car. A friend of mine sent a pair of rears back to them when the lower mount (where it bolts to the axle) sheared off (common with them I've found), and they said "buy some universal shock bolts, the shocks still work fine".

I do still suggest them for people looking for a good set of shocks that ride nice...and I like mine...but don't expect the warranty to be easy to work with.

Bilstein advised me to return the shock to their warranty center and they would replace the lower mount and bushing. My cost will be return shipping + the part price. Was told no more than $10 to repair. We'll see.

Digging up this old thread. I have one of my studs where the threads are about shot, from transferring from a wrecked 9C1 to my current ride, and then removing for the installation of different springs a few times.

Did you ever get the lower mount replaced, as I just contacted Bilstein, and they told me they could not supply me that part.

Thanks.

The "stud" with threads is on top, and would indeed get buggered up with too many R&Rs not using an airwrench. The lower tabs are on the bottom.

I'm confused
But, running a total 12 Bilsteins I'm following this. ;)

I should have clarified that I am referring to the rear shocks lower mount stud (I believe it's M14 X 2.0, although I'd have to double check my spreadsheet at home. Either M12 or M14...)

As a note, I just ordered a pair of replacements from AJUSA.COM, as they had the lowest price W/FREE shipping & no sales tax.
