I have been wanting to replace the interior lights (dash only) with Blue LED's.

Does anyone have pictures of the instrument cluster, AC controls, and the headlight switch in Blue?

Please post a pic.

In one of the threads I read the comment "5 Cluster lights (requires sodiering)". I thought these are just Std 194's.

Several people recommend:
Superbright:

I currently have the Dash apart and want to complete the conversion before I reassemble.

Thanks B

What model LED and color did you purchase? The color you have is what I am looking for.

Thanks,

If you want to be able to dim them (once you get used to dim dashlights at night, you'll never want bright) you can buy blue silicone bulb covers or condoms from a pinball parts supplier. I just got some for my highbeam indicator, but realized after that the warning bulbs are smaller than the gauge lights, so the condoms are little big for my purpose, but would probably work for yours.

or you can spend $15 for brighter LEDs

I'm going with the red dash so I ordered 20 (6 LED #194) for $15
I did not buy any #74 leds since I'm going to modify my HVAC, trip and headlight to have #194 bulbs just to make them brighter.

as far as the 5 #194 bulbs required for your cluster

as you can see the stock bulb is pressure fit on the socket but the wire that makes electrical contact is soldered on. I broke most of my bulbs taking them out.
you can see some wires sticking out from the one on the right after the bulb was removed.

in this picture you can see the #194 LED inserted
the right one, the wires to the leds are not making contact so they will not turn on.
the left one, the wires are bent and a dab of solder was added to keep them in place

on the final picture
the one to the left is the front and thats what makes contact with the circuit board in the cluster as you can see from the left one if you dont solder your LEDS will not turn on if you don't solder them in.

you can avoid all this by buying sockets that don't require soldering but they are around $3 each

FYI, I use sockets from the 80 gbody dashes take standard 194 with no solder, get em from the yard can get 10-15 from one cluster
