So my car stops fine, there's not fluid leaking out or missing from the reservoir, but when I pop my foot off the brakes when going to take off from a stop, I hear (and sometimes feel) a "clunk" from what feels like the right side of the car although I haven't been able to make time to verify that's the source of the sound. Any ideas of what it could be and where to look when checking out the brakes?

Before you do that, pop the hood, and look down at the passenger side frame rail and see if the alignment shims fell out of the upper control arm bolts and are just laying on the frame.

Check the brake caliper mounting bolts that they are tight. One of mine just fell out of the right rear. I thought it was the differential gears not meshing well. I was very clunky. If it does not clunk in reverse that's probably it.

Good suggestions so far. For the front brakes... some other things to check (along with the caliper bolts/pins) is the caliper pin bushings. After removing the pins, there should be a bushing in the caliper, top and bottom. Sometimes they fall out when the pin is removed. And could get lost. Last person who replaced brake pads may have not noticed. Make sure they were reinstalled. They also have a rubber o-ring that goes with them. If that rots out or falls out, this will also make the caliper bushings loose and bump around.

All of the above brake hardware needs to be present and in good condition. Often overlooked during a brake job.

What brakes do you have out back? Disc or drum? What model car? ISS and 9C1 sedans have rear disc brakes. Everything else has drum.

Good question, make and model should be part of every new thread unless the info is in the signature.

Answer is 96 SS ???

With the history of rear calipers seizing and (front and rear) pins not being lubricated and/or coroded I expected the first post would be checking the pins and rubber parts.

Then there's the 'hogged out UCA hole' unloading. And with everything already put out there, one more 'way out there' thing would be brokt tranny mount.
And for the OP, the overall symptoms call for simply getting the car up for close inspection of all 4 corners. But, next best is getting someone to drive while you move around to fix the location accurately. Front often sounds like rear, left like right, and of course vice vs.
