It is........BUT............
It is........BUT............
I think I remember you having issues with your tune he did? Did that not ever get taken care of?
Look at it this way. Bryan has been tuning these cars for, 15 years now? There are bound to be a few complaints here and there. For what he charges, I've always found Bryan to be one of your best bets out there.

Kinda what I was thinking as well. Nobody is perfect. My car is mostly stock anyways so i'm sure there would be no issues with a tune for me. My only mods are a RAISS cai and a Flowmaster catback exhaust. I'm just looking to pick up a little extra MPG and to tune out the VATS and A.I.R. and beyond that if there's any performance gain that's a bonus.

powder....did you ever get the tune sorted and by who?
powder had a huge issue with BH
So I left an e-mail to PCMforless and a person named Keith replied back to me and would not answer my questions I had asked through e-mail, he wants me to call him and ask the questions. I thought PCMforless was Bryan Herter? Does he have other people who work with/for him as well and maybe that's why a few people recently haven't been happy with their tune? I just want to have a mail order tune done to change a few things and try to pick up any available MPG and power.
Stay away from Keith. He did my 396 and the car runs like crap. Its out for paint now but its going to a dyno shop to get done right. He was also not very personable.I dealt with Keith years ago and he was great.
So who is recommended these days then. Since I would have no idea who did the tune if I sent my PCM to PCMforless I would rather not send it there.
Alex at PCM performance is the finest tuner I have found for these cars. I have had many tunes by a lot of companies. I like a man who does his own tunes. I like a man who will work with you to tune to your needs and not use a standard program. I like a man who will talk to you, a man who doesn't let his ego stand in the way of doing a good job. Alex does this and more, some others not so much.

I delt with Ion and will again, especially if you have a t56 tranny.

He's the only one who could have the reverse lockout solenoid work and still have AC.
I've no experience with Bryan Herter, so I can't and won't say testify about him or his service either way, but there are very many who would reverse the order you inferred [without cause].

1st of all, Ion no longer lists custom tuning services for anything older than 1999, so the LT1/L99/LT4 is right out.

Product Discontinuance

For a number of reasons (including aging components and poor vehicle maintenance), we have permanently discontinued a number of tuning and control module repair products. We will only support products currently listed on the website. We apologize for any inconveniences caused.
So sayeth Ion.
2nd of all, an ISSF member [whose handle escapes my memory] has previously testified to pcmperformance's ability to make a T56 [including its reverse lockout] work in a Roadmaster without compromising the AC; in other words, Ion is NOT the only one.
I have had nothing but good experience with BH. From the original tune and several upgrades to him personally dyno tuning my car. He was helpful and professional at every turn. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to continue to use him. And yes Keith did my last upgrade--big deal.
I have used PCM for LeSS for several cars that I built and they all turned out great. Next best thing to a in person tune I have found.

You could try Lynden Wester http://westersgarage.eidnet.ca/ I know a lot of people really like his work

Ed Wright still does mail order...IMHO the most "qualified" of the tuners. He is not the cheapest.....but you often get what you pay for

It can go the other way with him too. Can be very difficult to work with because of that ego. Personal experience. Payed a lot; got squat. Herter sorted it out with very little effort.

ding ding ding ding ding ding ding

I couldn't agree more. From what I've heard, he isn't going to be doing our cars anymore.....idk?
