Can you put grant steering wheels in a '96?

Of course, but the air-bag has to come out, followed by the factory wheel. Pretty sure I used a GM install kit (pre-airbag),but it's been a while.

FWIW I have an 80's caprice steering wheel in my '96.

My airbag light is still on ( haven't popped it out yet )

Disconnect the battery, WAIT like 10 minutes for the SRS system to "de-energize", that way you don't get punched in the face with the airbag.

Undo the torx screws on the back side of the steering wheel.

Remove air bag and the wire with the spring (the name escapes me)

Remove hold down nut.

Remove the steering wheel with a puller.

Install in reverse.

Don't forget to torque the big hold down nut. The specs are in the FSM. I don't remember off the top of my head.

I had to drill a hole to allow the airbag (unused) harness to tuck inside the horn pad incase I want to reverse everything. Horn works as it should.

IIRC most 70's-90's applicable aftermarket kits and wheels will work.

Most companies won't list our years because of the airbag. Basicslly, if it'll work for a box caprice, it'll work on a '96.

But, there are many options out there.
