Ok, I did the 9C1 bushings in January I think, and put on the HD (0929/1104) Bilsteins about a month ago. Now it just seems to be getting worse and worse. As the car goes over bumps, it usually dives toward the pass side, and shudders really bad. The car does lean to the pass side a bit too, but mostly to the front corner.

It is a salvage vehicle too, and I have suspected a bent fram for a while now...I don't know if bad upper body bushings would cause this too, but some of them did look pretty bad, and after install and torque, some lowers didn't touch the frame.

My next project will be the steering/suspension but I don't know if I should do bushings too, or just tie-rods, bj's, and what not, or if there is something else which might cause the car to act this way. Thanks to all in advance.

Things to check:
Make sure your shocks are tight on the upper mount.
Wheel bearings.
Tie rods/centerlink/idler.
Ball joints.
Control arm shims and bushings.

A complete front end rebuild may be in order.... as with most of our cars, age in the Enemy!!!
A shudder like that can be dangerous.

By continuing to drive vehicle with described condition,
it sounds like you're not only endangering yourself, but other drivers & pedestrians alike!!

Inspect & find what's causing this, and get it corrected!!!

First thing I would look at, is Idler Arm.
Install a Moog PN 'K6187T'.

Thanks for the info guys...I was figuring the next thing to do would be a front end rebuild, but what I really want to figure out is the shudder. Do you think it could have anything to do with the upper body bushings giving the car a harsh ride, even the springs maybe?

I'm not an idiot here Larry, I know how to drive and I know how the car will react...its not putting anyone in any kind of danger, its just a little annoying...

young Man,
I never implied you dldn't know how to drive[my life experience tells me, everyone thinks they're THE BEST driver-even better than Mario A., etc].

My comment was based on similar description you've described[of Front End darting away from STRAIGHT AHEAD CONTROL, during passing over rough road surface], that I encounted, before installation of>
Heavy Duty Moog PN 'K6187T' Idler Arm.

There's NO need to get defensive, just have FE thoroughly inspected.
There may be other steering components that may need attention also.
Get on it.

I'm a little confused now... are you worried about the shudder or the harsh ride?
I think I would have to say no... upper body mounts and/or springs would/should not cause a shudder... but they could be responsible for a harsh ride.

Springs don't get stiffer with time... so maybe just a new set of isolators would help.

Big B,

My car is doing the same thing but toward the driver's side, and also it tries to make a left turn if I hit the brake real hard. I went to three different car shops and they all promised me it was my 22' inch rims, so I went home and put my shock rims on and it did the same thing. Then they told me it was my center link, ball joints. I am just gonna replace the center link, ball joints, tire rods, and bushing.
