I installed a Crane HI-6 digital ignition on my 96. After about 3-4 days I got a check engine light. It was a PO506 "Idle speed lower than expected". I hooked up the scanner checked the idle speed and it looked ok. I reset the code and ran the car for a week without the ignition. No code. I reinstalled the ignition and after 3 days get the same code.

The ignition is mounted on top of the PCM, with a grounded copper shield underneath the ignition. I am running Bosch +4 platinum plugs with a relatively new Opti.

Any ideas?

Well, for one thing, you shouldn't be running platinum plugs with a heads/cam package. As far as the code goes, did you check the troubleshooting guide in the manual to see what they said to check? It might not be the ignition. The ignition might just be exacerbating an already egxisting problem.

Secondly, you might try emailing George Debski. He was running a Crane ignition on Cherry Bomb.
