Hey fellas,I'm in the market for a new data/code scanner. I want to be able to view live data,ABS systems, read codes ect ect. I'm hoping to be able to use the scanner on my '96 as well as my '03 Ram 3500 w/Cummins. I know I won't be able to read live data on the Ram,but reading codes for the engine/brakes is a must. I don't want to spend $500. The closest I've found is the Actron 3499N at $475 which is still a tad too much money for me. How bout some recommends?
Thanks-Casey

Look into the Actro CP9580. It's relatively new, features CodeConnect, real time data, graphing, ABS codes, blah blah blah, all for OBD-II. ;) Retail is around $250. :)

The #9580 doesn't support the ABS system on our B bodies. I spoke with Actron tech support and he said the only one that will work with our ABS system is the 3499N.
Do you guys own the #9580? Did I get bad info?

You are correct, but its the same company from what I understand. They have 3 or 4 different names they put on the scanners and readers.

3499n

I emailed OTC today and asked them if the 3499N supported reading the ABS on a 1996 Chevy Caprice. The reply was "I do not show coverage for that vehicle."
So it seems the boys and girls at Actron/OTC don't have a consistent story to tell.
Anybody have a 3499N produced after Oct 2009 (when the ABS feature was added) that can verify which is corect?

I bought an autoxray EZ scan 3000 a few years ago and have gotten a ton of use out of it. Does OBD I, II and that weird OBD 1.5. Also covers other brands of cars I don't own.

I bought a AutoXray 6000 for 300 bucks on the internet over 2years ago and am pleased. Done many vehicles, live operational data etc. IDK about ABS stuff though. I have it updated to 08 year vehicles, free updates included.
