Compressor come on when turn heat on?

My compressor comes on when I turn on the heat like when I have the ac on I hear the clutch kick on does it suppose to do that while the heat on too?? 96 lt1

That is normal operation. The A/C is used to dehumidify the air before heating it.

Rite,, because I thought it was loosing freon in the winter or something lol but guess I just got a leak somewhere
