Had original 2WFMR installed back in January and it had just short of 1/4mile range (as advertised 1/4 mile). Upgraded a few months later to 2WSSR so I could get the extra range up to 1 1/4 miles. Been using it for several months and decided to check for range. It does not even get to 1/2 mile with unobstucted view. Called Firstech and they sent a new remote and there was no change. Went back to installer and they contacted Firstech and they decided to replace the aerial. That did not work. Dealer called Firstech and they agreed to put in new "brain". Just did that yesterday and no change! The aerial is not blocked by any window tint. The ground has been changed three times it is getting proper juice. My question is, " could there be something in the pcm or electronics of our Impala's that could create an interference issue??

It does sound like interferance. could be the factory reciever. but should operate on a differant freqency, most aftermarket systems use totaly differant freqs. I have seen systems using seperate alarm with a remote start being activated by the alarm having interferance issues.

It could be the area that you're in too. Even though it's on a different frequency, it may be a high signal traffic area, which would cut the range down on your compustar. Tint will affect it, the Sungate windshield, but nothing electronic in the car should. After all, it's turned off at the time.
I'm trying to remember if a compass/temperature mirror would though. Maybe someone else might know.
