I found these today while looking for some of the OEM green hoses.. SAMCO SILICONE COOLANT HOSE KIT CHEVROLET IMPALA LT1 | eBay

I looked up SAMCO and they seem to make pretty damn good stuff. I just put all new hoses on my car, and Ill be honest, only a few of them fit right (ACDelco...). I have long wondered about getting the green hoses but the thing with those is that they dont get rid of the plastic fittings.. Which I have already had an experience with, not bad, but not good either. These samcos are made correctly and there are no plastic connections on them! I see there is not a pressure restrictor, but it might even be 'built-in' given the way they make silicone hoses. I kind of want to sell the hoses I just installed and get these to just be done with the rubber ones, not that there is really anything wrong with them though.. I will be moving back to vegas soon, so heat is going to become a BIG factor for my car.

Let me know what you guys think!

If somehow I can get a set of factory green hoses for cheap enough, I would probably just go that route, but if im going to fork over a 100 bucks for those, I would rather get these.

I bought a set of these. I haven't installed them yet, but their reputation is great.

Regarding the restrictor, I would use it. It's not only to protect your hoses, but also your heater core from overpressure during high revs, as well as slow the coolant passing through it to get more heat. (I THINK) :)

In any case, GM engineers didn't spend an extra 57 cents on that restrictor valve for nothing.

You'll need an extra two hose clamps, assuming your set comes with them, to install the restrictor.

You cannot use regular hose clamps with silicone hose. I'm sure summit or jegs has them.

Smooth interior. I wondered about that. I put some silicone hoses on my off road bike and used regular clamps! Oh man! Lawbreaker! Lol

I'll be sure to get some of those if I decide to get these hoses. If you would, put them on your car today so you can tell me how they fit. Lmfao! Just kiddin!

X2 on the Flow Restrictor....I would and have kept it in my setup.

Do your research on the Samco's here on the forum. I seem to remember something about them "seeping" over time but cant confirm if I'm remembering that correctly but there was some issue. As you said, you wont need the Plastic Tee with these since that section is molded into the hose itself.

If you stick with a stock style hose over the Samco's, you do have options to get rid of the Plastic tee. Myself and others have made one out of metal, here is how I made mine up when switching over to the 9C1 (Green) Silicon hoses.....

Over time I did also try the Good Year "Hi-miler" hoses but was very disappointed how they quickly faded and just did not look good. I later decided to switch over to the Green Hoses and like them for a couple of reasons. They look cool and are unique from most hoses you see. The other thing is they are Genuine GM hoses and I think that is pretty cool.

As far as removing the metal crimps on those stock hoses to replace the fittings, it's very easy to do. Just cut them off with a Dremel or cutting tool being careful not to cut into the hoses.

The process is described pretty well in the above link. If you hunt around and search or get lucky, you could pickup a set of 9C1 Hoses pretty cheap. Last year I found a 9C1 car at the local yard that someone was smart enough to already grab the 5/8" Spindles and Lower Control arms.....Damn! But I did notice a Grimey, Oil Covered set of Green hoses under the hood. Snagged them up for $20 and they cleaned up real nice to keep for a spare set. Hard to believe but after 20 years, these hoses are still solid and have no soft spots or spongy feel.

The clamps used on these normally are referred to as "lined" clamps due to the internal liner that protects the hoses from getting chewed up on the outside and are Stainless. So it's really a cosmetic thing to protect the outside of the hose but you could use standard clamps without issue. I picked up a set from McMaster-Carr for my use.

I have already replaced the fittings and hoses. I have those crimp clamps. I am on a path to destroy every one of those I ever encounter.

Best to just get a brass TEE from your local hardware parts store. That will never break or leak.

I have my grandpa on the look out for a set of greens(thats what I am nicknaming them!) where he lives.

I need to explore the dallas junkyards. there has to be one here. Come on, its Dallas. Maybe I will just a get a set of greens. The more I type the more I am talking myself out of the SAMCOs and just getting a set of greens.

I will eventually do all silicone hoses on my truck as well. I just dont trust rubber hoses really and I hate the way my ACDelcos fit as well. They are nice hoses, its just that the 2 coming off the water pump for the heater core just dont make that 90 by the alternator at a true 90. And it pisses me off.

Ill buy your set of greens for 80 bucks 4DoorSS.

Can't see any of your pics here, but I just changed out the original hoses on the 95 back in September. Used the Delco hose assembly. Includes all hoses and restrictor except the front two to the water pump. Used Continental there. All fit perfect. And a piece of 3/8" coolant hose from coolant tank up to the throttle body. The original 21 year old low mileage black hoses still were in fine shape, was just precautionary move. Think just about any new hose will exceed your ownership at this point.

Just fine never cuts it for me though. Lol.

And I'll start off by saying that I totally screwed up buying my hoses as well. They see the whole assembly like you said, with the restrictor and all hoses for like 70 bucks on rockauto.

I swear it's almost like you read my post on the buickforums. I said the same thing that you did with the hoses. Use continental for the two hoses at the water pump. Oh well.

Want a nice, clean look?

This is what I used:

Gates Power Grip Clamps | JEGS High Performance

Look good, work good on any type of hose.

Most users overtighten metal clamps. If you find any green in a JY, I'll bet they are messed up at the connection area.

Toughness being one of them. The idea on those is cool though. Basically a shrink wrap clamp. Problem though, your heater core pops and you need to bypass it, you only have standard tools and no clamps on hand, what do you do?

That sticks out to me because it happened to me.

They should not be if the correct Hose Clamps were still on there that GM used. All the sets I've found still seem to have the original "Lined" GM Clamps and the hoses are not messed up or chewed up at all. but using your regular style Worm Gear clamp without the liner....will chew these up.

I have some extras but let me think about if I want to sell a set. I've taken the time to clean them up already and they look really good. Here is just a random pic of some that were already disassembled and cleaned. If I do sell a set it will be more like $100 which is still cheaper than what I've seen these go for on Ebay and that is even without them being cleaned up.




You may notice the wear marks on the 2 Upper Rad hoses. That's pretty common on that specific hose but they are not worn through. Even the one on my car now has the same wear area from riding against the Stock Intake setup I think.

BTW - when you do replace these hoses, look at info for doing the Throttle Body Bypass Mod. This removes the coolant from flowing under the throttle body.

Check my sig, all free good mods done. CAI intake, tb bypass, oil filler tube in the garbage, AIR deleted. It looks like this under there..

Just another opinion,
I went Hi-miler too...
But recently my RAD cracked i think, so not sure i ruined the hoses with milkshake...SMH

Get a new heater core restrictor and replace the stock plastic TEE at the coolant reservoir with a brass one.
