corner light tap in

2343 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Gearhead65
i have a 95 civilian caprice that currently does not have the bigger bulb for the front corner lights.

i put on the clear corner lenses that have the hole for the light, and i went to the junkyard and pulled the harness for them out of a roadie.

is it as easy as tapping into the blinker rigth next to the grille and calling it a day?

thanks for your help guys... i really appreciate it!!!

No.

But it's just about as easy!

Your cornering light wires are fed to the headlight harness plug next to the PCM. On 9C1's and other cars without them, the wires END AT THE PLUG! They are fully functional, all you have to do is connect up your cornering lights up to the orange and black wires at that plug. After that, ground the light wires by either soldering them into the harness ground (for a factory configuration) or ground them to the body of the car.

If you pop the headlight harness end of the plug apart, you can simply slide the pins from the cornering light wires you have in there, and pop it all back together.

i just cut a few feet from the actual thing you put the lightbulb in. are you saying if i go to the junkyard and find another one, i should find that plug you took the picture of and disconnect it and replace mine with what i pulled from the junkyard?

thanks for your help!!!
oh wait, i think what your saying is to find the plug, and instead of disconnecting the plug and taking everything from that disconnected plug to the bulbs, just pull the two wires out of the plug and remove from the junkyard car? then stick the two wires into the holes into my car's plug where the black and orange wires end...

thanks again, i really appreciate your time!!
Actually, you can just tap into the front marker wiring if you want. Did that years ago with my corners and they work fine. The difference is, mine will blink with the front markers, acting as signal lights. The other method I believe just has it on solid when turning to illuminate the corner you are turning into. I like them acting as signal lights better.
What HuSSker is saying is the orange and black wires, in the pic he provided, are the proper pwr leads to cornering lights. How you get from there to the bulbs is up to you.
oh.....

thanks guys for clearin everything up!! i appreciate it!!!
I hate to bring up an old thread, but my two wires at that plug are dead. Anyone know where to check to see where power has stopped coming through? Do they go through the turn signal switch, PCM, etc.?

Did you check them with the headlights on?
