Like any good Dyno tuner we need a compairo and a chart

so lets look at whats on the car now vs these new CIA Quad_TriYs.

Edelbrock 6603 shorties
calimed 1 5/8ths but actually much smaller
and on some tubes necks down to 1.25 on the bends

ports are very small.
too bad I stoped at this dimention on the heads....:(

2.085" collector on the Edlebrocks.
WTF!~ how and the heck did I make 434RWHP NA with this?

The edelbrocks have even more neck down as the hook up pipes are 2"

Were the CIA pipes stay 2.5" through out

They actually fit on the car pretty nice,
Driver

PAX

and to my suprize even fit right up to my custom exhaust that matches the Edlebrock stock cat flange setup.

This is were things get Dark and Ugly.

See I'm not relly happy with the secondary length or the merge collcetor size and shape.

Thes guys are just too small and short to do any real work.
Something has to change.

Well my buddy Derek.
heres some pics of DHead in action!

Or Derek Head the "Instigator" as he is Now known,
a good race and good buddy
gives me some advice

So Derek tells me .

Cortez Burned his ships on the shore.
So they would all be forced to overcome the difficulties of living in the new world.

AKA no looking back

So you already dyno'd the original headers prior to cutting?
I dynoed the car with the edelbrock shorties and press bent 2.5" system.
I have datalogs and back pressure info.
As well as backup dyno on a DynoJet vs the Dynapack.

I'll see your ultralite 4L60E mod and raise you an invisible driveshaft...
I gutted a broken trans case with a cuttoff wheel and sawzall.
That way I could take the trans in and out by my self to check the drive shaft clearence.

It probalby weights 7 pounds!:D

I painted it white to help amplify reflective light and increase visability.

This works great and if any local Impala members need to barrow it.
It is avaliable for loan in Cali.

Cortez Burned his ships on the shore.
AKA no looking back
so the saga continues

Burning ships

are now just skeletons on the shore line

Once that sawzall hits the collector
the word commitment comes to mind

cutting down the CIA collectors turn out to be a huge amount of work

The CIA headers are stout.
.080 wall thickness.
nice welds almost 100% free of slag on the ID
and very little distortion of the pipe bends

cutting the collector with a cut off wheel and a sawzall
took patience, skill and a bunch of time
trying not to not f-up the primary pipes

after about 25 hours of cutting grinding and sanding
I finally had 8 free primaries that were collector free

and then these little babies arrived

Summit Racing Part NumberFLO-C178238300
Primary Tube Diameter (in)1 7/8 in.
Collector Diameter3.000 in.
Length (in)24.500 in.
Collector TypeSlip-on
Collector MaterialSteel
Collector FinishGray painted
QuantitySold as a pair.

Significantly increase your horsepower and torque.

Flowmaster's Scavenger collectors are designed to be used as retrofits for existing headers or for a custom fabricated set.
These collectors can increase torque and horsepower significantly in certain applications

Way too many hours were spent at the bench.
Cut grind, expand, sand, brush, clean, over and over
eating luch over a header just comes natural at some point

Music and monster fed my veins
and my hands and head felt funny when I took my safety gear off.

hard works makes for progress
this is the preped and sectioned PAX side header

then the star of the show arrives
and is mated to the CIA tri-Yless Quad

It took a person much smarter than I to figure out how to seal the four merging pipes
at the collector
and this was the answer

Several housrs with my good buddy and his Lindey TIG welder
and more than a little polish work later and here is new creation

Yha baby it as big as a truck bed

Then the bad news.

Driver side did not fit with the collector.

The CIA primaries were touching my Canton Pan!!!
and all up in my custom oil lines at my distro block to the front of the car.
The Driver sade has to be 100% custom..

$^@#$ % Damm it!~

Now a full custom header is needed on the driver side.

To be continued....

Tad,
IIRC the header on my car is pretty damn close, normal Quads to everything on the Driverside, oil filter, pan, etc.
Close enough I cant get the filter off without one of those cap type tools.

Where is this auto-x, Palm Springs?

Hey Tad, now that you cut up my old headers and I already have spent your money. You can go ahead and send those back:D

All of that old oil on the passenger side header is what happens when you supercharge a stock motor and get massive blow bye. Like seven cracked pistons blow byecwm4

Have Erica Campbell hand deliver a check 5x times what I paid for them and you got a deal.

I felt bad cutting them up.
But the sawzall went right thru..
and I felt better.
