Tad, what I don't get is this big pity-party, when there IS racing available to you.

for some of us who grew up in SoCal and have raced at every track that are now closed do find it VERY frustrateing (not crying for pitty) that there are very limited choices...especially for 1/4 mi. I personally do not like, never have, 1/8 mi tracks
I was a regular at almost every Street Legal day at Pomona back when the original SoCalSS was around. You were not much of a 1/4 mi guy then but did show up. Good times hanging by the lone tree in the parking lot at Pomona. Tad started showing up im 98 with his then bone stock SS and girlfriend in tow.
Fontana raceway was a new hope especially when they finally put in a permanent 1/4 mi track on the backside of the oval track. As painfull as it is to get there at 5:30 am (1 hr 45 min drive for me) just to be by then the 200th car of 500-700 cars lining up for tech cards, waiting another 2-3 hrs just to get through tech, waiting another 2 hrs to run down a ZERO prepped track with bad air to get back to your pit to find some POS rice car locked and parked in your spot to then wait another 2-3 hrs to get what is most likely your last run of the day. Done that dozens of times because it is the only game within 100 miles. Famoso is the other choice near bakersfield. Better run track with better prep but very painfull because 500+ cars are there also.
Unfortunately real estate $, tree hugging noise ordinances and insane insurance preminums keep drag racing away and will most likely be forever that way now in SoCal.
