Interested to see what the HP increase is myself.
WOW! Nice job Tad. You do realize you could have gotten all of the primaries and header flanges loose? As well as the longer secondary tubes and longer final collector. :) But hey, that would have made your project too easy. At least part of the headers continue to live on in your new headers. :) I commend you for all the work with the improvised tools. That was quite the jopurney; I read every post and loved it.

I do wish you had dynoed the headers before you cut them. But I'm curious to see what the new headers make with the longer collectors.
So about how much clearance do you have? Like in inches? Right now I've got about an inch and a half but one I put the right size tires on I'll have nearly 3. From the pics it looks like you might be around that and If its good enough for Tad its good enough for me!

Dan,

Good to hear from you! :)

Hind sight is 20 / 20

I should have done a lot of things different!!!
Including colabrate with you and CIA more than I did.
I got these pipes from Sid with intent of just bolting them on and running them.
but could not fight off the urges to go crazy with them.
This really just progresses out of controll.

Looking back I should have had you send me parts.

I want everyone to hear!
I cut up a set of Clear Image Auto headers.
I got to see inside them first hand.
They are VERY nicely constructed, with excelent materials.
Dan does great quality work!!:Dcwm7

Dan whats your guess on the HP increase?
the 2.5" press bent x-system with the edelbrock shorties
vs 3" madrell sectioned x-system with custom Tri-Ys

Could have dynoed the CIA compact tri-Ys as is
they bolted right up as shown in the early posts
Even some interefence to my custom oiling system.
I could have squeaked out a dyno.
Issue was, the trans was out for a broken flexplate.

DeathmobileSS and I took the car out for a spin on street tires tonight.
It is fast...but ..I'm still like.... Euhhh <shrug>
I drive too many fast cars at work..... poor me.:p

locked into second rolling around 40 you have to ease into the pedal.
Or it will blow right thru traction with the 285 Kumhos
TQ from the new headers combined with the stall is ruthless down low.
Still seem slow to me but DeathmobileSS says it's quick.
Hard to tell when I'm the driver.
The car is just too stable and the motor too balance.
the car goes so straight no drama.

Before with the edelbrocks
at 7000 it was just screaming
sound as if It spun to 8500 it would blow up shooting rods out with violence

Now with the Tri-ys
at 7000 it sound like it needs to keep going to 8500 before its ready to shift.

DeathmobileSS said that my car is quieter than his at 60MPH in 4th with lockup at cruise.
Go figure:eek:cwm9:)

Thanks for making my car feel slow!!!! These pipes sound killer. The car pulls HAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRD and the pipes really sound great when doing so but are nice and "mellow" in neutral. Tad builds really nice cars.

Tad - It always feels slow when the tires are spinnin' ;) Been there, done that. Bolt the slicks to it and THEN tell us what you feel. :D

You ever gonna make it to moonshine country for a drive in the SSled?

Terry.

I would love that! :)

Life has been caos for a little while now.
I would love to travel the US
See more of it than just Cali / AZ / HI / Vegas
maybe do some tuning and just break even on a trip across the US????

BTW I love the USA.
Buy American!
I would love that!
It's an open invitation if you can get your skinny ass here. :D
BTW - I'll be running 11's on Saturday at SSHS9 (on the bottle). ;)

Hey! I recognize that bottle stand... that would be the Rosie pilot. And she's hawt! cwm4

If the SSled on a 150-shot doesn't produce tears this weekend, the seat time offer stands...

Thinking about the rid DeathmobilSS and I took last night.

The motor is so even and smooth now.
Having a so much symetry really healp for smooth.

Gotta say LTCC rules!

if your on the fence about getting ltcc
and you spin your motor hard
open up your wallet!

LTCC + new converter + 3" X-exhaust + BigBoy Tri-ys =s a new and different car :)

Got the tool box moved!
Thanks for the help Shawn!

Heck I even got some sleep.

Need to:
-clean and organize two garages
-tune 4x crazy nuts-o LS cars at work

then it wil be time to Swap Fixy and Reswap the trans.

Man I cant wait to dyno this thing.
Wow

Absolutely SSpeechless...

Quality craftsmanship at it's finest...

Dyno results??? :D
Im hooked! Like the rest of them, cant wait for dyno results
Whats the good word, TAD?
I am also hooked and looking for the results! Fine craftsmanship!
Man,
I had to move ALL of my tools out ot of the garage I was working at.
At the same time had to put in mad hours in at work to catch up, cause the shop was closed for almost two straight weeks for SEMA.
I almost have my Tools and work space setup in my new garage.
As soon as I get our driver Volvo thru SMOG It game on with fixing the trans.

Acutally I want to hit Westech "land and Sea" and Superior "488 DynoJet" in the same day.
And Haddad's "dynapack" the next day.

Maybe put a 100 hit on it for fun.

stay tuned transmission carnage photos soon!
