I got a 95 Impala and im pulling out my engine tomorrow and I was wondering what do I have to do to remove the pressure from the A/C system? Steps? Do I need to dispose the gas properly or screw the environment and release it all into the atomsphere? Thanks!

I've always left the A/C charged, unbolting the compressor (and power steering pump) from the engine, and setting it aside still attached to the accessory bracket.

+1 unbolt the accessory bracket from the engine, though you will also have to unbolt the power steering pump to get to a 9/16" headed bolt behind it. You will also have to unbolt 1 or 2 10mm headed bolts from the back of the AC compressor or unbolt the bracket on the back of the AC compressor from the engine which will probably be harder to do. - Peter
