Driver information center

on newer GM models they have a driver information center either in the radio or instrument cluster. It shows information like 2 tripometers, oil life %, average MPG, fuel range, etc. I was curious if it is possible to put that setup into our cars or is the PCM signals not the same? I have a '96...TIA

I believe it wont work for the simple fact that our cars dont have a BCM(Body control module) to store data.
